TURBOCAM Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
|
August 28 & 29, 2010
TURBOCAM celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010. To recognize this milestone, the company hosted an event at the Boston-Portsmouth Air Show, which was held August 28 & 29. This was the perfect way to celebrate our corporate achievements and honor the employees, vendors, and customers who help make our success possible.
Every year the company holds two outings—one in the summer and one in the winter—to celebrate its employees and thank them for all that they do for the company.
“We were looking for just the right venue,” said Marian Noronha, company President and Founder, “and when heard about this event and discovered that the Boy Scouts of America and the Brain Injury Association were benefiting financially from it, we knew we had found the perfect place for our company outing.”
Over the weekend nearly 500 employees, vendors, and customers, together with their families and friends, attended the outing and enjoyed flight-line seats. Outing attendees also enjoyed a catered lunch, unlimited beverages, and a chance to win several door prizes throughout the day. All of this was held under a tented chalet.
“This weekend was a great time for me to reconnect with TURBOCAM employees and for them to get to know each other better,” commented Noronha. “It wasn’t that long ago we were under 50 employees, and now we are over 200 in our Barrington location alone!”
When asked what he most enjoyed about the company outing, Dan Estey, who works in shipping and receiving, said he enjoyed “being treated by Marian to a wonderful show, food, unlimited beverages, and VIP parking!”
Kevin Magner, third shift supervisor for Turbocam Automated Production Systems, said he “enjoyed The Blue Angels and the cool shade provided by the tent.” Kevin planned ahead and parked his car near the entrance to the Air Show and then rode his bicycle to the chalet. He was excited to share that he “buzzed past all the traffic on the way out;” and said, “I was in my car and out of traffic in 15 minutes!”
“Being able to have front row seats to see the world-famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels and National Aviation Hall of Famer Sean D. Tucker, was exciting,” commented Liz Dorsett, TURBOCAM’S Marketing Communications Developer. “It was a bit scary to see the airplanes doing their tricks, but my heart skipped a beat once the U.S. Army Golden Knights performed. Even though they performed their routines with skill and grace, they were still floating through the air, depending on the parachute on their backs to open!”

A 15’ x 15’ booth was included with the company’s sponsorship of the Air Show. Many of the parts that TURBOCAM manufactures were displayed. One of them was a helicopter assembly. Mohawk Valley Community College, who offers an engine maintenance program, exhibited in the booth across the aisle. They had a helicopter engine on display and it featured the same helicopter assembly that was at our exhibit. This coincidence helped the many visitors of the booth understand what TURBOCAM manufactures and opened up a conversation to help them learn more about who we are.
To attract visitors to the booth, the company gave away approximately 2,000 Frisbees that had the TURBOCAM logo engraved on the top. Passersby were asked to try their luck at throwing a Frisbee into the hole of a large, metal bladed part. Each person got three tries to throw a Frisbee into the hole. If they succeeded, their name was entered into a contest to win a Red Sox cooler. Everyone loved this game and at times the line to play was outside of the tent!
Congratulations to Andrew Bosco of Gonic, New Hampshire, for winning the Red Sox cooler!
“I am pleased that so many employees and their families were able to come and enjoy the show, commented Noronha.” We had about 180 people come on Saturday and almost 290 attended on Sunday. The weather was beautiful, the food was great, and everyone had a wonderful time!”
