Happy Thanksgiving 2017

24-Nov-2017 – Barrington, N.H. (U.S.A.)

There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment? - Ecclesiastes

Thanksgiving Card 2017

Thanksgiving often brings up pictures of harvests and celebrations. I typically travel to India and Nepal in October or November, and see fields of rice and sugar cane ripening. Sometimes I witness the cutting, the gathering up, and the threshing of the harvest. It can be a time of great celebration, or deep disappointment.

The celebration comes when the work of our hands has been a success, when months of labor and investment are blessed with abundance. But I have also seen the disappointment as when a few years ago a flood suddenly rose and destroyed the harvested crop that was drying in the fields. When we visited a week after the flood receded, many people were trying to salvage the crop, but it had already rotted. The promise of plenty had disintegrated in front of their eyes.

We have enjoyed our work with you this year. Thank you for partnership with us, which has been a big part of our success. Our hope and prayer is that you find God’s blessing on the work of your hands, so that you can find rest and enjoyment in it.

We greet you at this time of Thanksgiving with a handmade card from the Nepal Leprosy Mission, bringing you Jesus’ words of hope and promise: “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” The image on the card is of an angel announcing the birth of Jesus to shepherds who were tending their flocks at night. “Fear not,” said the angel, “for I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today a Savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Joy without disappointment is here to stay.

Greetings from the TURBOCAM family to yours.
