TURBOCAM Employees Attend Annual Meeting and Employee Appreciation Banquet
13-Feb-2012 – Barrington, N.H. (U.S.A.) – ANNUAL MEETING: After weeks of planning, TURBOCAM International held its annual business meeting and luncheon on January 26. Since the company now has nearly 300 employees between its Barrington and Dover locations, it outgrew the large company cafeteria and the meeting was held at an off-site location. The day started at 7 a.m. for the “newbies,” a term that TURBOCAM President Marian Noronha lovingly uses to describe employees who have been with the company one year or less. Noronha leads a workshop once each year for the newbies and tells the TURBOCAM story—how TURBOCAM started and how it has grown into the company it is today.
The theme of the half-day meeting was "Focusing on Health." After breakfast, TURBOCAM President Marian Noronha opened the meeting and touched on topics ranging from “nurturing our core legacy” and “developing superior processes” to new initiatives and “promoting employee growth.”
“There are many exciting projects, technologies, and growth opportunities taking place at TURBOCAM in 2012 and beyond and this meeting was an important time for us to cast the vision and to communicate the opportunities that lie ahead,” stated Mark Overmyer, Director of Organization Development.
For example, one new area of growth and technical achievement is the balancing cell at TURBOCAM Automated Production Systems (TAPS), a division of TURBOCAM Int’l. TAPS has been interested in balancing impellers for years. Early in 2011, they decided to take the plunge and develop a semi-automated balancing cell. They have come a long way over the past year and should be ready to deploy the cell in production shortly.
Four breakout sessions were designed to communicate the company’s goals and vision for 2012 and beyond. Group discussion was encouraged and leaders received a lot of positive feedback on the sessions.
“The conversations in the wake of the meeting have been very helpful. I can tell you that leaders throughout our company have been meeting with people talking about ideas and initiatives that came out of the breakout sessions.” comments Mark Overmyer. “I know, I know, just one week of enthusiasm doesn’t mean ‘mission accomplished.’ But I am encouraged and I hope you will be too.”
Close to 300 employees, including Rob Taylor, Manager Director of TURBOCAM Europe, and Sorin Ignat, Managing Director of TURBOCAM Romania, attended the meeting. Both leaders discussed their current business climate and the positive things that are happening. TURBOCAM Europe recently moved into a new larger facility and TURBOCAM Romania is poised to purchase land for a new facility as well.
After the breakout sessions, everyone enjoyed lunch together. This led to great conversations and was a wonderful way to end another successful annual meeting.
EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION BANQUET
On Saturday, January 28, TURBOCAM held its annual Employee Appreciation Banquet at the Rochester Elks Club in Rochester, N.H. Close to 300 employees and guests attended the dinner and enjoyed good food, entertainment, dancing, and much camaraderie.
After a welcome and blessing from TURBOCAM President Marian Noronha, dinner was served. The menu featured prime rib, baked stuffed haddock, vegetable lasagna, potatoes, vegetables, dessert, and more.
This year’s entertainment was a bit different than in years past. The Murder Mystery Company provided actors, costumes and fun and hosted a murder mystery dinner. One person from each table was asked to become one of the actors and take on a persona, and the roars of laughter that ensued could be heard from miles away!
After the murder mystery was solved, one of the actors shed his costume and led the rest of our evening as a DJ. Marian and Suzie Noronha were the first to step onto the dance floor and that opened the door for others to follow. Everyone had a great time.
