Zip Line

The Pattriya (Stony) River runs north–south about one mile from Grace School. For many students and teachers on the Tikapur side, crossing the river is part of their daily commute. In October 2010, we completed construction on a zip line that allows for safe transport across the river during the monsoon season.

Fares generated from zip line services will contribute substantially to the operating costs of the Grace School. The remaining income will cover salaries for those supervising the operation as well as maintenance costs. This benefits the community in two ways: jobs and services.

This used to be the only way to cross the river at Bani, in a shallow boat. This offered a precarious ride for up to 10 passengers, with their bicycles, and often a few motorbikes.Zip line crew members adjust the tension on the line.Madan gets ready to test out the zip line!
