TX treatments are unique thermal diffusion surface transformation technologies that improve the toughness of steel without creating brittleness. It is not simply a coating but instead improves characteristics to transform lower cost materials so they either match or outperform more costly exotic alloys in high-wear applications.
TX1 and TX2
Our two proprietary treatments, TX1 and TX2, are ferritic nitrocarburizing (FNC) surface treatments that work by thermochemically diffusing carbon and nitrogen into the surface of steel materials. The addition of carbon and nitrogen strengthen the crystalline lattice of the material, producing a harder, tougher steel that will survive longer in high-wear applications.
TX treatments can be applied to cobalt and ferrous materials such as stainless steels, low alloy steels, and tool steels. As a non-line of sight application, we are able to treat components with complex geometries. Our scientists will evaluate your engineering and material requirements and work with you to provide optimal surface properties.
